Bognor Hospital, The Friends of Bognor Hospital, and the Governors of the Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust
What is it that links these three bodies?
The answer is straightforward. All three are dedicated to helping to ensure patients at the Hospital receive excellent care. How do they work together?
Everyone at the Hospital – staff and volunteers – strives to provide the highest level of care. They welcome any help in support of their work.
The Friends of Bognor Hospital, known as the Friends, provide support to the Hospital from across the Bognor community. They discuss the views they hear with the Hospital staff and, through the generous gifts they receive for the Hospital, the Friends donate money to projects that will improve the facilities for both patients and staff.
The Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust is the body that is responsible for community health provision across most of Sussex, and Bognor Hospital is part of the Trust. Governors are responsible for assuring that the care given by the Trust at all its various facilities is of the highest standard and the Trust is being run properly both financially and morally.
Governors are, for the most part, elected to serve geographical areas. Click here to see the current Arun representatives: [opens another website in a new tab]. Their job is to listen to people’s views across Arun and ensure both praise and criticism are raised with the senior management at the Trust. They monitor how the various health facilities work together and speak up if they think anything is being done inappropriately.
For that reason, the Friends invites the representatives to attend their meetings to increase their awareness of what is going on at Bognor and, when necessary, raise concerns at the Trust HQ – something they have done from time to time. They are always pleased to hear directly from anyone who wishes to make them aware of any items of concern or that require praise.
